Presentation: Paranormal Investigation with The Albany Paranormal Research Society (APRS)

The Albany Paranormal Research Society (APRS) is a registered Not for Profit corporation with the state of New York and is a proud member of the TAPS Family.

APRS is a group of dedicated people from various backgrounds with a common interest in the paranormal who give of their time and energies to research, investigate and document paranormal events and phenomena. APRS is based in Albany, NY and serves the Capital Region of New York State and areas within a 150 mile radius.

APRS does not go into an investigation case with the sole purpose of “looking for ghosts”, instead seeking ways to debunk or find natural causes for that which the client may be experiencing. Investigation services are performed free of charge as a community service to people who believe they are experiencing paranormal activity in their homes or businesses.

About the Presenter

MJ Henion is Co-Founder/Director/Lead Investigator with the Albany Paranormal Research Society. She works with others in APRS to investigate claims of paranormal activity in an objective and scientific manner - to differentiate the explicable from the unknown.

MJ is also founder, High Priestess and Elder of the Order of the Phoenix Rising - an Albany, NY based pagan group which provides a family friendly, non intimidating atmosphere where fellowship and practicing the ways of old may be enjoyed by people of all paths. She is skilled in the areas of dragon magick and divination, also teaching tarot and runes courses in the local area. Her other interests include forensic science, Civil War history and Harry Potter.

Gretchen Persbacker.    

Gretchen has been a practicing pagan for the past 15 years and a member of ADF for the past nine years.  She is currently the Senior Druid of Tear of the Cloud Grove, ADF –  local congregation serving the Albany area.  She is also a member of ADF’s Artisans Guild. 

Gretchen lives in Delmar with her husband Chris and their cat Samantha.  In addition to her day-job as a Project Manager for OGS Division of Design and Construction, she divide her time between my family, her friends, and her many hobbies which include running a freelance landscape design business, writing novels (as yet unpublished), countless sewing and craft projects and reading voraciously (when she have a minute or two to spare).  In between she try to remember the little things, like sleeping, eating and breathing.

Gretchen will be leading a workshop on Ar nDraiocht Fein and living as a Pagan in a non-Pagan world.

Cathryn Platine.  

Cathryn is a lifelong Pagan (45+ years) and the founder of the Cybeline Revival religious movement.  She has spent years researching the ancient Goddess Traditions and is currently the Battakes (Reverand Mother) of the Maetreum of Cybele.  Cathryn will be speaking the spread of the Goddess Traditions from the neo-lithic to the Classical Period.

Dr Caillean McMahon 

Dr. McMahon is the Senior Forensic Psychiatrist for the New York Supreme Court system and a long time Pagan.  Along with Cathryn Platine, she has done considerable research into the traditions of the Cybeline Religion in Rome and Greece and recovered the long thought lost Cybeline drumming pattern.  Caillean will be leading a group workshop on the ancient Cybeline drumming patterns.

About the Presenter

Sharon Gorbacz has been a member of Ar nDraiocht Fein since 1998, and was elected to the office of NorthEast Regional Druid in 2009.  She works mainly within a Norse hearth culture, with a few inclusions from other pantheons.  She is always looking for ways to include her spirituality in everyday life, and is passionate about reducing her impact on the environment.
